I’m a freelance photographer based in São Paulo, Brazil, specialized in portraits, and documentary photography. I majored in journalism at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Rio de Janeiro, and in 1994 I started my career as a writer for a daily newspaper. In 1996 I moved to New York to study photography at the International Center of Photography and ended up staying there for 6 years. Returning to Brazil I dedicated my focus to documenting the incredible transformation the country has been going through in the last decade. In 2007 I received a grant to spend 6 months in Germany developing a project about the young workers in the disappearing industries in the Ruhr river valley. In 2009 I was awarded 3rd Place for the Arts and Entertainment Singles at the World Press Photo. My worked has been exhibited in Brasil, Japan, Finland, Hungary, Belgium, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.
