Cristóbal Olivares is a documentary photographer with an interest in contemporary social affairs, mostly focused in latin america. He was born in Santiago,Chile where he actually lives and work.
He is currently represented by VII / Mentor Program. In 2009, after studying three years of photography he travels across Canada to develop a series of personal photographic projects, as a result in 2013 he published his first Photobook “-42º” (Ediciones la Visita). Back in Latin America he continues working on his personal projects and assignments for various medias companies, both national and International. In 2014 he co-founded an independent editorial initiative called “Ediciones Buen Lugar” .
His work has been recognized by Open Society Foundations, Photoespaña, Fotovisura Grant, Photographic Museum of Humanity, Photofest Querétaro, Chilean Arts council, among others. He is one of the subjects of the web documentary about Chilean contemporary Photographers “Rectángulo en el Ojo”. His photographs has been published and exhibited in Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, USA, Canada, Spain, Germany and Uk.
