Born (3rd May 1984) and raised in West Sumatra, Indonesia, Muhammad Fadli started to pick the camera since studying at the university. After graduation he interned as a photojournalist for a local newspaper in his hometown before migrating to Jakarta to photograph for an Indonesian weekly news magazine. Since 2012 he has been freelancing working on personal projects and editorial assignments. Although lately he focuses mostly in stories in his home country, he has covered various stories such life in contemporary Iran, post-war ex-Yugoslavia countries, and refugee crisis in the Balkans. He is a co-founding member of Arka Project, a collective of Indonesian photographer working on long-term documentary project.
