Stéphane Charpentier is a French photographer and video-maker based in Athens, Greece. He is completing assignments for press, portraits, and corporate, in analog or digital. His archives are available for editorial uses.
Stéphane began his career working on music projects before moving into personal artistic endeavors at the age of 27. From that time on, he has been developing many projects related to photography, video, and sound, while living in different cities (Lyon, Paris, Toulouse, Madrid, New York, Athens).
Stéphane is dedicated to long term b&w analog photographic series. He selects very few pictures from his whole production and makes himself silver prints in the darkroom. Committed into an introspective pictural language, his work has been presented internationally with exhibitions and screenings in France, China, England, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain and USA.
Since the beginning of 2012, Stéphane is working in Greece where he is directing short movies, video installations, music videos, as well as elaborating over the years a self-produced experimental documentary.
Making sound and field-recordings in order to compose his soundtracks, Stéphane is often collaborating with musicians and sound artists. He took part to the creation of the rock band Oiseaux-Tempête, whose debut album - connected to the Greek situation - was released on Sub Rosa label in 2013.
