Two of our Authors who were awarded at Magnum Photography Awards 2016 for the category Juror's Pick. Alejandro Chaskielberg with "Otsuchi Future Memories" was selected by Martin Parr, while David Kogan chose Tommaso Protti's "Ta Cheio". "Otsuchi Future Memories" presents a visual documentation of destruction and loss, connecting portraits of the Otsuchi survivors with family photographs recovered from the waters, all of which was swept away by the tsunami that smashed into northeastern Japan on March 11, 2011. Tommaso Protti's "Ta Cheio" denounces severe overcrowding in Brazilian prisons, which is the most basic problem plaguing Brazil's penal system. Indeed, "Ta cheio" means "it's too full" in Portuguese. It's what inmates say when visitors enter the prisons where they are detained.
